主電機帶動套裝的內、外轉鼓全速旋轉，物料由進料管連續引入，均勻分布到內轉鼓內段濾網壁上，在離心力作用下，液相物穿過濾網和轉鼓壁濾孔排出，經排液管排出機外，固相物截留在內轉鼓形成環形濾餅層。

內、外轉鼓同速旋轉的同時，在活塞推動下，內轉鼓連續軸向往復運動，因而推料盤推動內轉鼓濾餅層間歇不斷地向外移動排出內轉鼓，進入外轉鼓進一步分離并形成環形濾餅層，內轉鼓外端面則推動外轉鼓濾餅層間歇不斷地向外移動排出外轉鼓，經刮料槽排出機外。
